This is the historical moment for India. India on Friday i.e.5 May 2017 has successfully launched the geosynchronous satellite for South Asian countries from Andhra Pradesh’s Sri hari kota. It provides supports to neighboring countries too .Prime Minister Narendra Modi has applauded it as a “priceless gift” to the neighboring countries.


The main motive of Saarc satellite is to achieve the goal and work for the welfare of the neighboring countries. This is the contribution to the welfare of the society. Modi said in 2014. The launch is widely seen as a display of India’s soft power and regional influence. It’s totally funding budgeting cost is by India only. This is estimated that the cost of the satellite launched around 450 crores.

It’s about 16.57 minutes after launching; GSAT-9/South Asia satellite carrying 12ku bands transponders were putted into cache oval orbit on the GSLV-F09 from the Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The satellite is present in the orbit around 169 km at nearest and 36,105 km far and the inclination angle is 20.45 degrees from the equator.

On twitter Prime Minister Modi tweeted the launch moment immediately. It is the biggest achievement, Narendra Modi congratulated the ISRO because this brilliant heart stopping performance. With this we will able to add our strong bonds with our neighboring countries. This advanced satellite will help in every field like banking, government sector, vast advancement in educational scale where there are some area where education system is not so good, tele-medicine, quick response to natural disasters.


It is estimated with a period of 12 years, motto is to provide the communication applications in Ku-band for the nation. It provides the internet facilities at the natural calamities occur. The news from the resources that Pakistan had refused to take part in this project after which the satellite named was changed to “SAARC satellite” to south Asian satellite.

This GSAT-9 is a Geostationary satellite and data coming from it will be shared between 5 countries.
